Please have positive thoughts for me Monday morning.

I have an interview for a job I really want. It is with my current employer and I know that at least 28 other people have applied. I've made it to the 1st round of interviews and I am very nervous. I know I have some qualifications that other people don't have and I keep telling myself that I have as good of a chance at it as anyone else.

One of the big advantage of this job is that I could work from home. I've been wanting to try this for a long time. Charlie would love having someone home with him every day :joy and I would save about $200/month by not having to travel to the city.

Thank you so much everyone. It means a lot to me to know people were thinking about me this morning.

I just finished my interview. Wow those behavioral questions are tricky, I never know if I gave the answer they were looking for.

Keeping fingers crossed...

I've been chosen for another interview round for Friday Dec 14th @ 2 pm. I'm trying not to think about it but I can't help it. It is stressful!

Vicky,

I am with you as well. :hp You obviously have made an impression on the company. They have already called you back several times. Stressful indeed, but it will be worth it in the end. Best of luck and my prayers are with you....

Thanks for asking Marsha. It went well. Out of 30+ applicants, it's down to only 3 (I think). We will find out later this week. I can't wait!

Oh, I completely forgot to update this!

I was not the succesful candidate for the job. However, my colleage got the job and she deserved it. Out of 40+ applicants, I think it was between her and myself in the end and she got it. The hiring person told me I was very qualified for the role and I should keep searching for this kind of position, which I will do.

Thank you for all your thoughts and support, I'm sure it helped me go through that stressful time. :th-up

I am really happy for your friend, and for you that you got this far in the process.
However, this kind of thing makes me annoyed and angry. I've been on many interviews where the position went to the current employee of that company. For some of those positions I was in the top 2, for others a little further down. The point is that it takes so much effort to do some of the long applications with questions on work concepts and detailed questions on experience, then multiple interviews, extensive 2-4 hour testing, the large interview panels. The process can be long, stressful and take multiple days and at least 10-20 hours of wasted time. Some people have to take unpaid time off or travel. It's really sad when the organization and HR cannot be upfront about wanting to promote their own employee, knowing the employee is well qualified. If they have highly qualified employees that are interested they should only make internal job postings, unless no one qualified applies. HR has the criteria, they have performance reviews of current employees, they know the education of the employees, they know their motivation and involvement and they can make a decision based on that. So why ask outsiders to apply if they already know that their candidates are highly qualified. Not only it's frustrating to the applicants, but it's also a huge waste of time for HR and interviewing managers. At the end of that some employers don't even call to inform of the decision.

I'm sorry for the rant. But I've lost so much time on this as a job seeker. There is so much expectation from an applicant, whereas the hiring people can be so unprofessional and rude. Sometimes you go to the interview and they don't even do a good job interviewing because they just do it for the sake of doing it, or to check off on all procedures. The end result is self-fullfilling prophecy. How would the interviewers know if outsiders are better than their current employees, if they don't do a good interview? The second worst thing is when you go to an interview and they don't want to hire you, they just want to use your expertise, get information, or ideas.
