Thank you all for your support. I'm keeping very busy clearing out my mom's house, which keeps the blues at bay. I have found some wonderful treasures along the way... my mom was a saver and had cards and notes from my dad all the way back to when they were dating. He was totally smitten with her from day one until he passed away shortly after their 45th wedding anniversary. It has been wonderful to read his reaction to finding out my mom was expecting my oldest brother. And there is a wonderful letter he sent shortly after my birth telling her how happy he was to have a daughter. He was in the Navy and at sea when I was born, so we didn't meet until I was a few months old. I never knew that she had these letters and I'm so glad that she kept them all these years.

One thing I read about bloat is that feeding your dog only once per day can be a contributing factor. And as Tina mention, deep chested dogs seem to be more prone to it. Personally, I wonder if our little Cocker foodies eat enough small meals throughout the day to avoid it. I know Jennie never finishes anything I give her in one sitting... she usually hits the bowl for a nibble or two about every hour!

I will pass your condolences on to Tim when Jennie and see him next. He was amazed at how many people in our neighborhood knew Indy's story, so you can imagine how he will react to getting kind words from across the country!

Susan,
So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I lost my dad in November, so hard to lose a parent!

And please pass on my condolences to Indy's dad, Tim.

Just wanted to comment that what a wonderful treasure your Mom left for you, Susan. Brings tears to my eyes.

Regarding bloat, I have also heard that elevating their bowls helps too. These same issues with the larger chested dogs cause their stomach/intenstines to twist into knots and they can die quickly.
