Riley saw the neuro-opthomologist today. Dr was stumped as all her tests have been negative. Soooo he wants her to have a MRA(she had a mri and mrv) and a echocardiogram and see a cardiologist to make sure its not a heart issue.(she has never had any heart problems ever). she has strep again and her asthma has kicked in so she is not feeling well too. Please keep us in you thoughts and prayers.
Thanks!

Riley has been a little better still have not found a cause so will try a migraine medicine to see if it helps. Hoping it does the trick. It has been very frustrating to NOT find a cause but relieved to find nothing seriously wrong either! Please keep up the prayers that this new med works!

She was placed on topamax? Spelling for migraines with the hope it helps. Dr would really like to get under control before school. Some of the side effects are a little scary but if it works they can taper off the meds and hopefully relief can last for years. They arr not sure if migraines but not sure what else to do with her at this point.

That really stinks! Are you affiliated with a major hospital (like a NYU or Columbia) for the tests/doctors? If you aren't perhaps it's time to go to a major center. If you are can they perhaps send test results to someplace like a Mayo Clinic? There are so many things that can mimic other stuff and so many variations to even simple stuff. One thing I have learned through experience is that the more minds thinking, the more eyes looking, the more experiences seen, the better. I'll be praying....

Sorry to hear that your daughter is continuing to have vision problems. I know it must be frustrating for all of you.

I will keep your family and the doctor's ability to diagnose this problem in my prayers :hp

Becky, could it be something environmental, like something toxic in the house (paint, mold) or something you might not even notice?
Keeping your daughter in my prayers.

Terry we did move from house to an apartment and she was placed on topamax (for migraines) over the summer so I was hoping we had it beat. She will see another eye specialist this afternoon and hopefully will get help there. The neurologist is a pediatric one at a albany medical center with a very good pediatric specialty. I am just so tired of making her go through all these tests for no answer. I am also very careful of what she eats, I am thinking of making us gluten free (the baby is) just to see if that helps although both Riley and my husband are not happy at that prospect.

Jackie that would be most appreciated. Are there any web sites or cook books you reccomend? I have made the baby gluten free because he was up every night many multiple times with a belly ache and grumpy all day.... my husband doesn't agree but he is not the one up 5-6 or more times each night with a baby in agony.....and it only happens when he has gluten.

Glutenfreeforum.com is a great resource.

I actually don't even have any cookbooks. I've just found alot of naturally GF foods.

I really like Pamela's products and you'd never know the difference with tinkyada pasta.

I have an easy recipe for peanut butter cookies if you want it. If there is anything specific, you can PM me any time.

You and your family are in my prayers. I am so sorry as I know how hard it is to see your child in pain with no avenue to relief.

Riley saw the neurologist yesterday and is doing well. She can begin to finally taper off the topamax and hopefully the vision and headaches don't return. According to the doctor may kids on topamax get a lingering effect to hold off headaches/migraines which is what they believe the vision loss was. So hopefully it can be monthss or years before she may need to take the topamax again. Please pray that all reamins well. Thank you.
