My sweet Jenny. We got her when she was about two, and she lived to be about 14. She was rescued by us a day before she was going to be euthanized and by the fact that we were misinformed she was a Brittany (she looked to us like an English Springer Spaniel mix), she blessed us for many years. When she was six, and barking at corners, we got Jake and until he passed at four, she loved him dearly. At ten she met Indy. She hated him. But she dealt, and then, she loved. They played and Indy got groomed by her, and so it went for three years. Then she got "Old Dog Syndrome", random lumps, teeth that had to be removed, a nasty spider bite and numerous other things. They played less and when my family was on vacation, she had to be put down due to liver failure. And that was simply, my dear Jenny, my sixty pound girl who I faithfully carried up and down the stairs for her last six months, my childhood companion, my pretty girl. :hp :paw :hp

File comment: I remember this clearly, she was snuggled with me on the couch with her head on my stomach, snoring away.

File comment: Warming her old dog bones, and of course she would have been snoring.

And the final picture of her, my favorite picture of her, sunning with her sweet eyes closed, totally oblivious she was being photographed.

What a beautiful, sweet and loving tribute to your Jenny. She was such a pretty girl and it sounds like she had a gentle spirit. I'm so sorry for your loss and glad you have two little furballs to help you through it.

Thanks all, I am glad to finally think of her with joy instead of grief, but it took me 10 or so months to get there. :happy One of the things I will not forget of her is, when she was still young, still a runner and had bolted through the gate. She was running down the street with her tail streaming behind her, my Dad in tow and I swear I could her her shouting, "I'm freeeeeeeeee!" the shelter didn't call her Houdini for nothing. :gig

She was beautiful. They may not be with us physically, but they always live in our hearts.

I think I finally understand what you all mean by postcards. Just now, as I was cleaning my room, I came across a blanket, the rough crotcheted white yarn was unassuming, until I looked closer. It was covered with interwoven white, silver and brown hairs. I knew it was my girl's hair that covered that blanket, I used to cover her with it on cold days. :hp
In just a few weeks it will have been a year since she passed. I believe this was her postcard, to tell me she loves me, and misses me, and all is well where she is at. Hunt your lizards my pretty girl, they shan't get away now (not that they ever did). :smch :paw

Rest in peace sweet Jenny :hp That last photo is breathtaking . . . just how she would want to be remembered, I bet.
