They ate what? Unbelievable x-rays reveal bizarre things naughty pets eat

Have you ever lost your knife, cigarettes and chain on the same day? It could be in your pet’s stomach if these x-ray images are anything to go by.

These products were found inside a two-year-old pit bull terrier, and the only reason we know about it is because the x-rays were submitted to the annual ‘They Ate What?’ competition.

But surprisingly this wasn’t the eventual winner of the $1,500 (£1000) cash prize for the most shocking item to be removed from a pet successfully.

Man, I wish I knew about that contest a year or so ago when Emma ate sand from our fireplace.  We couldn't figure out why her #2s looked so weird, so we hauled her to the vet, who felt her tummy and also shrugged and said "let's keep a close eye on her." She was in no distress whatsoever. When we got home we tore the house apart trying to find out what it could be and then discovered the paw marks in the fireplace and the screen pushed aside.

To this day, Emma will eat ANYTHING and we have to be really careful with her. Yesterday it was tissue from the bathroom (our fault for not closing the door). She doesn't just shred, she eats it. It's like having a perpetual toddler.

Sometimes I can see why her breeder "quit" breeding and sold me Emma for a song.....
