Six pups in about four or five hours isn't too bad. There are at least a couple of more in there.

Yes!!! Aren't they adorable? Did you see the little girl that was revived with Mama? There are other Great Danes in the house ... I'm surprised that they are being so good. They are used to having a lot of attention.

Sad, but with such a large litter, it's not unusual. This has been a long day for everyone. Poor Scarlet ... but she's an awesome Mom.

Just checked the puppy cam this morning to see what happened during the night; went to bed way after midnight. First thing I saw was Carlene sitting with Scarlot and the puppies; Carlene is an amazing lady :hp ! The puppy count is 12 with three stills, so 9 puppies. They are beautiful puppies and Scarlot is a wonderful mama to her babies. This has been a wonderful experience and I have ordered the book telling about this Great Dane service dog place and have also signed up for updates on future puppy litters. Thank you, Cindy, for sharing this event on our NCR section of our forum! :love

No matter how many times you see new life come into the world it is always experiencing a miracle. :hp I am so impressed with SDP and the work they do, and how well everyone works together. Each pup is special and will change someone's life. The pups that didn't make it, will be mourned, and buried with respect on the farm. Service Dog Project / Explore.org have several cameras on site, so you can always tune in to watch the goings on ... Carlene also posts a daily Blog (Doggie Daily) and around 5:00 or a little after, Eastern time, they hold "Mail Call" live with sound usually six days a week, where they open the mail that day, chat, and answer any questions people want to submit about the dogs, the program, volunteers, etc. If you are on FB -- you can follow the amazing service team of 10 year old Bella and her partner, George. (FB -- Bella and George). Service Dog Project also has a FB page as well. I am so glad that you and Debbie got to watch with me yesterday; I hope others did, too.

Oh, I should mention, SDP is expecting four, twelve week old Great Dane puppies to arrive in April from Denmark to add to their bloodlines ... and Noel, another SDP Mama is in heat now. So, about 63 days after she is bred, we'll get to do this again! :love

Getting a little annoyed.... They made the decision to turn off the sound, but they have the microphone right in the middle of the action. I love hearing all the little slurps, squeals from the pups. :happy

Otherwise, I am really enjoying watching. :hp

Also, wondering why they are giving Scarlet injections????

:wv Hi Dawn! For those who have followed SDP for awhile, having sound (and HD) during a delivery are a real treat. The sound will be on from time to time (on the nursery cam) so we can listen to the pups. This action is taking place in a house/office, so often business and private conversations are taking place, or they are on the phone or sitting off screen watching television. Also, there may be vets or recipients of dogs that come and go or staying there for training, and SDP respects their privacy. I haven't been online much today, but I assume the shots are for Scarlet to contract and expel any afterbirth that wasn't discharged yesterday/this morning. During the birth process, they were taking note of what pups arrived in their sacks, and the number of afterbirths. I'm guessing that some are still not accounted for.

If you are seeing a little blue box on tripod legs, you are on the "house cam." The blue box is the close-up camera ... the one one where there will sometimes be sound. This camera was set up just this week for this birth. Try this link: http://explore.org/live-cams/player/service-dog-project-nursery-cam The house cam rarely has sound except for mail call that starts between 5:00 and 5:30 eastern time zone most weekday evenings.

Yes, Cindy

I did hear a mention of the after births. I just was worried that it was antibiotics. Nosy aren't I?

It is so wonderful to be "flies on the wall" of a daily reality. It's amazing what these people share of themselves to make others aware of service dogs. This place seems to run so effortlessly, because everyone believes in the same goal. They have nicknamed themselves "Crazy Acres." I have never seen a more loving group who works and plays hard together. There are also the everyday supporters called CP's who watch regularly and are major supporters of funds, goods, and services. Mail Call is done for them. (Watch what they send in on an almost daily basis!)

For the new SDP fans (and I hope there are a few), this is a link to today's Mail Call. The first two Danes to appear on screen are retired ladies living as house dogs. The JRT is new to Crazy Acres. A few months back Carlene said that there were rats in one of the barns and they needed a "ratter" (they don't use poisons or traps on the property for obvious reasons). Some time later, Wanda (as she just Wandered in, said with a Boston accent) was rescued and is now a much loved member of the crew. Mail Call: [url] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An4Bi_r6fx8

I set it up in my bookmarks. I did see this today and then remembered something about mail call being televised with sound. They got a big box of cookies. Yum!
